Do we have to turn over our mailing lists to anyone?
A. Absolutely not. It
is up to you to notify your constituents of the
benefit by printing announcements in your publication
or enclosing I.D. cards supplied by MMS in your
constituent mailings.
Q. Can
we get a discount by going directly to the car rental
companies?
A. Yes. However, MMS negotiated
top discounts by combining the purchasing power
of over one hundred groups. Also, with MMS representing
such a large number of organizations, it is in a
favored position to negotiate even better rates
for these organizations.
Q. What
other Benefit Programs does MMS offer similar to
the car rental discount?
A. The car rental companies
have the most well established discount programs
in the country and that's why we began here. We
are currently negotiating with truck rental companies,
hotel chains, and tire manufacturers to provide
group discounts for organizations such as yours.
By participating in the car rental discount program
you will have the first opportunity to participate
in other programs as they become available.
Q. Can
the car rental companies cancel this program?
A. Yes. If the
groups do not utilize the program, the car rental
companies have no incentive to continue the discount.
This rarely happens but you should be aware that
it can.
Q. What
do we get out of this program?
A. You save money
for your constituency and the program is evidence
that you are working in their behalf.
Q. Can
my constituents use the discount outside the U.S.?
A. Yes, Although
the overwhelming majority of rentals will be within
the U.S., a discount is provided when traveling
in other countries. Details on these discounts will
appear on the I.D. cards or in the announcements
provided.
Q. If
the car rental company supplies discount identification
cards, how are we supposed to get them distributed?
A. By "Piggy-Backing"
onto a planned mailing. You tell us when your next
"envelope" mailing is going to your constituents.
We'll arrange for the cards to be printed with your
organization's name and unique identification numbers.
The cards will be shipped to your mail house for
inserting.
Q.
We print our own membership card. Does this mean
our members will have two I.D. cards?
A. MMS will supply camera-ready
art containing your unique discount number. This
art can then be printed on the reverse side of your
membership card so your members only carry one card.
Q. Is
there any evidence that this program encourages
membership in an organization?
A. Many people feel that
it does. We have been told by one major membership
organization who was getting a 50% response from
their first membership renewal notice, that this
single benefit increased first notice renewals to
65%.
